Clipping agency pricing: what to compare

Clipping agencies may charge per edited clip, a monthly retainer, a managed campaign fee or a performance fee based on eligible views. These models pay for different work. Compare total cost, delivered assets, distribution, revisions and usage rights before choosing a quote.

Separate editing from distribution

An editing fee covers creating assets from source footage. It may include moment selection, captions, reframing, audio cleanup and a fixed number of revisions. It does not automatically include publishing, access to creator accounts or a guaranteed audience.

A distribution campaign may add creator fees, account coordination, publishing schedules, moderation and reporting. A monthly retainer buys a defined capacity or scope; clarify whether unused capacity carries over. Ask which charges are fixed and which depend on performance.

Understand CPM and eligible views

CPM means cost per 1,000 views or impressions, depending on the contract. The denominator must be explicit. Calculate effective CPM as total campaign cost divided by eligible views, multiplied by 1,000. Platform-reported views are not necessarily unique people.

Agree the measurement window, accepted platforms, country requirements, per-video caps and treatment of paid boosts, invalid traffic or removed posts. Ask whether management fees and production costs are included in the quoted CPM. A low headline CPM can exclude material parts of the budget.

Worked example: a planning scenario

Suppose a campaign costs ₹60,000 in total and produces 600,000 eligible views. Its effective CPM is ₹100: ₹60,000 ÷ 600,000 × 1,000. If it produces 300,000 eligible views for the same spend, the effective CPM becomes ₹200.

If that hypothetical campaign also produces 60 qualified enquiries, its cost per qualified enquiry is ₹1,000. This example is arithmetic for comparing proposals, not a Sponz rate card, client result or forecast. Views alone do not establish revenue or profit.

Request an itemised quote

Tell the agency how much footage you have, how often it arrives, the desired clip formats and where clips will be published. Include any language versions, design requirements, approval deadlines and paid-ad usage needs.

For India and cross-border work, confirm quote currency and any applicable taxes or payment charges with the provider. Compare budgets in a single currency using the rate actually agreed for payment. Ask Sponz for a current written proposal rather than treating an illustrative budget as a binding offer.

Common questions

Is per-clip pricing better than CPM pricing?

Per-clip pricing suits a defined asset requirement. CPM pricing can suit distribution when eligible views, caps and reporting are clearly agreed. Compare the complete scope rather than the billing unit alone.

Does the pricing example describe Sponz results?

No. The worked example is an illustrative calculation, not a published Sponz result, offer or performance guarantee. Request a current proposal for your campaign.

Put your source content to work

Tell Sponz about your footage, audience and campaign goal. Ask for a scope that separates editing, distribution and reporting.
